Length Check

This post is waaaaay overdue but better late than never. As you all know I was intending on cutting my hair at the end of April, but I just could not wait any longer and ended up doing a major trim on March 30th. Every time I washed or detangled my hair I noticed the that the ends of the lower right corner of my hair were much thinner than on the left side, it looked as if parts of my hair had broken off.  And when I ran my fingers through that section of my hair it felt really brittle like someone had been chewing on my ends. So they had to go….

On the first two pictures my hair was a little dryer on the right side but hopefully you can see the difference. The bottom two pictures are after I flat ironed my hair. You can really see how much thinner the right side is. 045

All in all I think I cut about 2-3 inches off  (or maybe more). I went from my hair being just below my bra strap to a length above my bra strap.

I think I may have to cut more, until then I am going to pay extra attention on that section of my hair and figure out to protect my ends besides protective styling. I am really happy to see my #struggleends go. My hair has more of a bounce now!

Wash Day

My hair has been giving me so many issues for the past few weeks. Its been suuuuuper dry and my go- to moisturizer has not been helping. On top of that, I forgot to mention to you all that I accidently texlaxed my hair during my last touch up.

Dry hair + multiple textures= NIGHTMARE!!

I was literally on the verge of taking my shears out and chopping my hair off. So this wash day I had to make sure I added some much needed moisture to my hair.

[1] Pre-poo: I put Coconut Oil in my hair, followed by a layer or Olive Oil and topped it off with Garnier Sleek and Shine Conditioner. I left this on my hair for about 20 minutes before rinsing.

[2] Shampoo: 1 Lather of Nexxus Therappe Shampoo

[3] Deep Conditioner: I mixed 1 tablespoon of JBCO with Kurlee Belle Banana Nut & Avocado Conditioner and applied it to my hair. I put on my Hot Head Conditioning Cap for about an hour and let it cool for an additional hour before rinsing with cold water

[4] T-shirt dry for about 30 minutes

[5] Leave-Ins: Sprayed ApHogee Keratin and Green Tea Restructurizer into my hair, applied Kurlee Belle Thirsty Kurl Leave-In and sealed it all in with a mix of JBCO and Olive Oil and let it air dry over night.

The next day, I flat ironed my hair. Do you all remember my last Touch Up post where I said I was gonna wait to cut some of my ends off? Well I didn’t, but I will do a separate post for that.

For this week’s hairstyle I plan on rocking this flat twist. This was a good Wash Day, my long deep conditioning session seemed nip my dry hair in the bud.

Hope you had a great Wash Day!!

Wash Day + Birthday Hair!

[1] Pre-poo: Slathered Coconut Oil on the last 5 inches of my hair and then slathered OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner (found the cute travel size at Target, definitely picking up the regular size soon) on the rest of my hair and left it on for a couple of hours

[2] Shampoo: 1 Lather of Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Shampoo

[3] Deep Conditioner: Used a mix of random conditioners plus a half tablespoon of JBCO. Deep Conditioned in the shower for 10 minutes and rinsed

[4] Applied a nickel size of Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle to each section of my hair. I let my hair air dry in two braids over night

[5] Leave-ins: Sprayed ApHogee Keratin and Green Tea Restructurizer on my hair, applied Lottabody Moisturize Me and massaged my JBCO mix directly on to my scalp.

I try not to make big deal of it but today is my 26th birthday!!! Haaaay! I don’t usually have birthday hair but I wanted to spice it up a little. I really like my flexi rods, this will be the second time that I actually put them on my real hair. They are really simple to use and I don’t have a hard time sleeping in them.

Hope you all had a great Wash Day!

Wash Day Weekend

For the past two weeks I have been protective styling with wigs so my real hair was in plaits.  Hence, I have not washed my hair in two weeks but all good things must come to an end.  I was happy I had this whole weekend to give my hair some much needed care.045

[1] Pre-poo: Slathered my braids with Coconut Oil before unraveling each one which made detangling much easier. Detangled my hair with two different combs.  Put hair in 4 sections. Covered hair with a plastic cap overnight047

[2] Shampoo: 1 lather of Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo

[3] Deep Conditioner: Mixed 1 Tablespoon of JBCO with ORS Hair Mayonnaise to strengthen my hair. Deep conditioned my hair for about 30 minutes (15 of those under my Hot Head Conditioning Cap). Rinsed with cold water

[4] T-shirt dried for about 20 minutes

[5] Leave-Ins: While my hair was still damp I applied Lottabody Moisturize Me and sealed with OGX Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum, Massaged my JBCO mix into my scalp. Allowed my hair to air dry in braids.046

The next day I actually flat ironed my hair and used some flexi rods for curls.056

This was a pretty simple Wash Day. I was apprehensive about using the ORS Hair Mayonnaise because some said that it was considered a moderate strength protein treatment while another site considered it to be a hard protein treatment.  Either way, I was impressed so I’ll definitely use it again. I’ll consider it as a moderate protein treatment, it has a little more strength than the Aubrey Organics GPB that I use, but less strength than the Redken Extreme Strength Builder Plus. My hair benefitted a lot from the protein treatment, I lost like 3 pieces of hair compared to that huge lump of hair pictured above! Hopefully, you ladies had a great Wash Day!

Have you ever used ORS Hair Mayonnaise?

What’s your favorite moderate strength protein treatment?
